Emily Blunt and Ryan Gosling brought Barbenheimer to the 2024 Oscars!
At Sunday’s 96th Academy Awards, Blunt, 41, and Gosling, 42, took the stage to present a tribute montage to stuntmen — and the pair couldn’t resist joking about their supporting roles in 2023’s biggest movies. Barbie and Oppenheimer.
“Well, a little frosty greeting,” Blunt told Gosling as the pair took the stage together on Sunday night. “Not at all — I’m just happy we can finally put this Barbenheimer rivalry behind us,” Gosling said.

“That’s right, here’s Ken and Kitty just leaving all that food in the dust,” Blunt said. “And the way this awards season has turned out, there hasn’t been that much of a rivalry, so let’s just let it go.”
“It’s true, you’re doing very well, congratulations, but I think I understand why they called him Barbenheimer and not Oppenbarbie,” Gosling joked. “I think you’re at the very back because you’ve been wearing a Barbie coat all summer.”

Barbie proved to be the highest-grossing film in 2023 at the box office, doc Oppenheimer this winter he achieved better success at various awards.
“Thanks for explaining to me Ken, Mr. I-have-to-paint-my-abs-to-be-nominated — you don’t see Robert Downey Jr. doing that,” Blunt replied; her barb drew a roar of laughter from the crowd. “Robert Downey didn’t take pictures of his abs,” she added, while Gosling jokingly grabbed the microphone and yelled, “You’re kidding!”
“This is crazy, Emily, this has to stop. We have to crush this,” Gosling added, before the pair turned their attention to celebrating stuntmen across the industry. Gosling and Blunt appeared to be celebrating the stunts ahead of their upcoming film The Fall Guywhich follows Gosling as stuntman Colt Seavers and Blunt as the director of a sci-fi blockbuster.
The pair are drawn into a criminal conspiracy while completing work on Blunt’s character; the film is based on the 1980s television series of the same name. The film will be released on May 3.
“We’re here to celebrate the stunt community; they’ve been such an important part of our industry since the beginning of cinema,” Gosling said on stage, with Blunt calling stuntmen the “unsung heroes” of the industry.
