Outlander stars loved the appearance of William Ransom, Jamie’s bastard son, in season seven. The British soldier, played by Charles Vandervaart, is the son of Jamie and Geneva Dunsany, but has been raised to believe that Lord John Gray is his father, and that he is the heir to Ludovic Ransom, 2nd Earl 8 by Ellesmere. So the big question is, will William ever find out his true origins?

In short, yes! Although Jamie and his family vow never to tell William the truth about his origins, the young man still finds out – with the revelation taking place in the seventh novel, An Echo in the Bone. . Since we’re currently on season seven, this could mean the reveal will happen over the next few episodes – we’ll have to tune in to find out!

In the novel, William finally recognizes Jamie as his biological father after meeting him. When John helps Jamie, they are seen by William, who eventually makes a connection, and Jamie confirms the truth of his suspicions.

William was initially furious, especially with his adoptive father, Lord John Grey, for keeping the truth hidden from him and realizing that he was not technically the heir to the Earl of Ellesmere. . According to Diana Gabaldon’s latest Outlander novel, Go Tell the Bees I’m Gone, William is still confronting the truth about his origins.

However, William appears in Outlander as a teenager in season four, where he overhears Jamie claiming to be his father, but believes Jamie is lying to get him out of a difficult situation. Speaking about whether William had doubts, Sam told Pop Sugar: “Willie’s stuff, for me and Jamie, is a really exciting thing to see, seeing where that relationship went and developed. To where.” He added that there may have been a “Willie awakening to who his father might really be.”

He continued: “I always look forward to the return of John Gray, [and] I was definitely looking forward to those scenes. [David Berry and Oliver Finnegan] They’re also great actors, so it’s an interesting side story for Jamie and Claire this season.”
Speaking to Town and Country about joining the cast, Charles said, “It’s a huge show and has a lovely fan base. But so far I’ve only met love.
