Need a new show for fall? Paramount+ has shared the first look at the very exciting new series, The Doll Factory, and we can’t wait to watch it – especially since it stars Outlander and Derry Girls alumni!
The upcoming series recently wrapped filming in Ireland and stars Derry Girls actress Saoirse-Monica Jackson as well as Outlander’s own Nell Hudson, joined by a star-studded cast including The Nest’s Mirren Mack and Hanna star Esme Creed-Miles.

Adapted from the bestseller, the story takes place in 1851 and follows Iris, who earns a living by painting dolls, along with her twin sister Rose. The synopsis reads: “But [she] dreams of becoming an artist. At night, he secretly paints himself naked, honing his craft.
“Silas is a taxidermist who owns a shop full of his creations. He hopes to one day find an item so unique that it will catapult him to stardom. Louis is a painter and member of the Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood, in search of his next muse.

“In a city buzzing with anticipation of the Great Exhibition, their three worlds collide, and Iris is offered the chance to escape and start a new life. To do so, she must leave her sister, sacrifice her reputation and launch herself into the unknown. How does Iris’ world widens, she confronts patriarchal beliefs, explores her sexuality, and begins to experience things she’s always dreamed of. But alongside her newfound independence, a story of dark obsession begins to unfold.” The show is yet to confirm a release date, so watch this space!

Meanwhile, Derry Girls creator Lisa McGee has announced a new series, How to Get to Heaven from Belfast. The official synopsis reads: “The eight-part comedy series will follow Saoirse, Robyn and Dara, who have been friends since school. Now in their late 30s, they lead very different lives. Saoirse is a successful writer with a compulsion to strike out. Destruct button, Robyn, the cursing, stressed-out mother of three boys, and Dara, the caretaker of an elderly parent who couldn’t move out of her teenage room.
