Pamela Anderson feels “grateful, overwhelmed… and blessed” after receiving her first Golden Globe nomination.
The last showgirl actress — who started out as Playboy model in 1989 — was nominated for Best Performance by an Actress in a Motion Picture — Drama for her work in the Gio Coppola film.
“I share this wonderful nomination with The last showgirl The family, my family and my valuable companions on this interesting journey,” Anderson, 57, wrote in a statement obtained by PEOPLE.
“It’s never too late to dream, to start over, to stay open to possibilities — we’re not all that lucky,” she continued.

“I wish everyone my love and gratitude as I navigate this exciting new chapter,” Anderson added.
In her note ex Baywatch the star also thanked the film’s production company, Roadside Attractions, and fellow nominee Miley Cyrus, who is up for Best Original Song. Cyrus wrote “Beautiful That Way,” from The last showgirlsoundtrack, with Andrew Wyatt and Lykke Zachrisson.
Anderson, previously nominated for a Gotham Award for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Motion Picture, is in a Golden Globes category that includes four Oscar winners: Angelina Jolie (Maria), Nicole Kidman (Girl), Tilda Swinton (Room next door), Kate Winslet (Lee). Fernanda Torres (I’m still here) completes the category.
IN The last showgirlAnderson stars as Shelly, a quiet Las Vegas dancer who finds herself at a crossroads when the hotel hosting her long-running show announces it will close after a decade.

Along with her fellow dancers – played by Kiernan Shipka and Brenda Song – Shelly must navigate an unknown future. She also needs to mend her relationship with her estranged adult daughter Hannah (Billie Lourd).
Jamie Lee Curtis has a fantastic role as Shelly’s best friend Annette, a sweet dancer turned casino cocktail waitress.
Although Anderson has been in the industry for decades with roles in high-profile series like Baywatch, Home improvement and the Campy series VIPthis is the first time that Anderson has been recognized as a serious actress and contender for awards.

In the November interview with Entertainment WeeklyCoppola compared his star to another icon of the 20th century.
“She’s Marilyn [Monroe] of our time,” the director told the newspaper. She realized it while watching Anderson’s 2023 documentary Pamela, a love story.

“I saw many parallels with [her character] Shelly, but I also saw that this was a person who was really hungry to showcase her talents,” Coppola said of Anderson.
The last showgirl is in select theaters on Friday, December 13 before expanding in January.
The Golden Globes live Sunday, January 5, at 8:00 PM ET on CBS and Paramount+.
