- After retiring from government work, he moved with his family and mother from the government residence in Sector 22, Gandhinagar, to a bungalow in Vrindavan Society in Raysan village, Gandhinagar, Gujarat. In 2014, after Narendra Modi became the Prime Minister of India, he visited his mother at Pankaj Modi’s house and received her mother’s birthday wishes. Before her death in December 2022, Narendra Modi frequently visited his mother and spent time talking to her.

- In 2020, he visited New Delhi on the occasion of Republic Day and showcased the architectural and cultural heritage of Gujarat. In an interview, when asked about the situation in Gujarat, he said:
Our Gujarat scene will showcase the architectural and cultural heritage of the state. The main work will be the Rani Ki Vav of Patan, which will be fronted by a statue of a village woman wearing a Patola saree from the region.
