After slamming former President Donald Trump at the 2024 iHeartRadio Music Festival, Hayley Williams has hit back at criticism that she was reading from a “script” while making her comments.

On Sunday, Sept. 22, the Paramore frontwoman, 35, shared an Instagram Story in which a user accused her of “reading the script” and asked if she was “paid or blackmailed” to target Trump at a Friday, Sept. 20 music event in Las Vegas.

“Whoever you are, I typed up my speech and asked a crew member to hold it close to the camera in case I got nervous. What I had to say was important and I didn’t want to stumble at this point. right I’m not done though watched … it’s because I prepared,” Williams told .

She added: “Finally, not only did I *not* get paid to give a speech, we (paramore) didn’t get paid to play that radio festival either. I think I’m just kicking ass here for free 🙁 thanks so much for your concern and well written my name, hi!”
