She shared a clip of the ups and downs of her sobriety journey, captioning it: “Hi, I’m a pk and I’m an alcoholic and a heroin addict.”

Paris continued: “Today marks five years clean and sober from all drugs and alcohol.

“To say I’m grateful would be a poor euphemism. Gratitude barely scratches the surface.

“I’m smiling today because I’m sober. I can make music.

“I got to experience the joy of loving my dogs and cats. I feel heartbreak in full glory.

“I can grieve. I can laugh. I can dance. I have confidence. I can feel the sun on my skin and it’s warm.

“I’ve found that life goes on whether I’m sober or not, but today I have to show up.”

She ended by writing, “Here’s a little snapshot of what was possible thanks to my sobriety, and my god, I can’t believe I almost missed it all. Thank you.”

At the beginning of the video, Paris can be seen drinking and smoking, as well as having fun and crying as she shares a snapshot of her life.

But then the video transitions to some incredibly happy memories for the star, as she shares clips with her fiance Justin Long, as well as dancing with friends and walking the red carpet at a Christian Louboutin dinner.

Paris also posted her praises marking her anniversaries of sobriety, ranging from one day to five years.

Fans flooded the comments to congratulate her on her sobriety and overcoming difficulties.

Actress Lucy Hale wrote: “You are amazing amazing amazing.”

And Paris Hilton added: “So proud of you sister,” followed by a hand-up emoji.

Paris Jackson, who got an alien tattooed on her chest when she was 18, previously revealed how the body art helped her recover from a darker period in her life when she self-harmed.

“I can look at the inside of my forearms and see art that has meaning for me, I don’t see a dark past anymore,” she explained.

“My scars and past self-hatred are covered with traces of love, creativity, ingenuity and depth.”

Paris grew up on her dad’s Neverland ranch in California with her older brother Prince and half-brother Prince Michael II, also known as Bigi and nicknamed Blanket.

Her mother is Debbie Rowe, who worked in the dermatology department where Jacko was being treated for vitiligo.

The two married in 1996, and after their split in 1999, Michael was awarded full custody of the children.

Growing up, Paris said she “hated” her father dressing her like a doll.

She said: “I was the only girl. For the first 10-11 years of my life, my dad loved to play dress-up. I looked like a porcelain doll and I hated it.”

After her father’s death in June 2009, fame became too much for Paris, who was 11 at the time.

She and her brothers went to live with her grandmother, Katherine Jackson.

But she explained: “Food became an addiction and then my cousin called me fat, so I said, ‘OK, I can’t do that anymore’. And so I fell into self-harm.

“There are a lot of things that cause dopamine to be released.

“Self-harm was one of them, tattoos were one of them and so was that, and it was also a distraction from emotional pain and a shift to physical pain and the need for control.”

By the time she was 15, Paris had become an intravenous drug user, and then attempted suicide.

She later explained that it was fueled by feelings of inadequacy and a belief that she did not deserve to live.
