Passenger Killed By Metal Object That Hit Windshield on N.J. Turnpike

A man is dead after a freak accident on a New Jersey road.

In a statement to PEOPLE on Tuesday, Sergeant Jeffrey Lebron of the New Jersey State Police Office of Public Information identified the victim as 39-year-old Steven Bradshaw of Audubon, NJ

The metal object first struck the front hood and windshield of the Toyota Bradshaw in which he was a passenger. He then struck Bradshaw, who suffered fatal injuries, according to police.

The incident happened on March 7.

New Jersey State Police responded to a motor vehicle accident around 1:22 p.m. local time on the New Jersey Turnpike northbound near milepost 67 in East Windsor Twp., Mercer County.

No one else was injured, and the accident is ongoing. It was not immediately known what object struck and killed Bradshaw.

According to Lebron, there is no additional information available at this time.
