Passengers Wearing Crop Tops Claim 'Sexist' Flight Attendant Kicked Them Off Spirit Airlines Plane

Two women on a girls’ trip claim they were kicked off a Spirit Airlines flight for wearing crop tops.

The incident reportedly occurred when Tara Kehidi was traveling with her friend, Teresa Araujo, from Los Angeles to New Orleans on Friday, October 4, to celebrate Kehidi’s 30th birthday.

Kehidi told KABC-TV that she and her friend were wearing sweaters when they boarded the flight, but decided to take them off because the air conditioning was off.

When they took off their sweaters to reveal their crop tops, she claims a male flight attendant approached them and told them to “put something on.”

Footage from the flight, posted by Araujo and now circulating online, shows one of the women wearing a white crop top, ripped jeans and a green cardigan sitting on his lap as the flight crew began to approach them.

Another video on Araujo’s Instagram carousel was a woman with a child who said she was going to be kicked off the plane because she was wearing a crop top.

“They’re going to remove us from the plane? Me and my child?” asked a woman identified by KABC-TV as Carla Hager. Hager was sitting in front of Araujo and Kehidi, but he didn’t know them.

“I said ‘well, if your body is inappropriate, then mine is too because I also have a crop top under my sweater,'” Hager told KABC-TV. “And I took off my sweater and I said ‘well if they kick you off the flight, then they’ll have to kick me and my child off the flight too.”

In the headline, Araujo called the flight attendant “sexist and rude” and said the supervisor told them to “leave the flight or he’ll bring the police.”

The women told KABC-TV that they have not received a refund. Kehidi and Araujo said they got a $1,000 Delta flight to New Orleans. They also claimed that they offered to return the sweaters, but the flight attendant allegedly told them it was too late, reports KABC-TV.

“Our contract of carriage, the document that all guests agree to when booking with us, includes certain dress standards for all guests traveling with us. We are investigating the matter and are in contact with guests about their experiences,” Spirit Airlines said in a statement to KABC – TV.
