The comedic actor, who portrayed Dr. Evadne Hinge, passed away on Sunday, according to his family. Patrick Fyffe, a stage and television actor who portrayed Dame Hilda Bracket in the sophisticated, opera-loving duo, passed away in 2002 at the age of 60.
The pair launched their drag performance in 1974 at the Edinburgh Festival and went on to host their own BBC2 series, Dear Ladies, for a number of years.
Writing the scripts for the Dear Ladies with Hinge and Bracket TV series and specials was “one of the great joys of my life,” according to author and broadcaster Gyles Brandreth. George Logan was a very hilarious, extremely smart man who was also a fantastic musician and entertainer, he wrote in a tweet.
“With the help of his stage partner Patrick Fyffe, who played the effervescent Dame Hilda Bracket, his creation, Dr. Evadne Hinge, was exquisitely observed and brilliantly brought to life. They were so enjoyable.
As a member of the duo act, the comedian from South Lanarkshire entertained the king and queen at two Royal Variety performances.
In his book A Boy Called Audrey, published in 2015, he chronicled his experiences growing up as an openly gay man in Glasgow.
