Paul Rudd Says It Was ‘Unreal’ to Hug Travis Kelce After Chiefs’ Super Bowl Win — and Confirms He’s a Swiftie

Taylor Swift’s sweet hug with boyfriend Travis Kelce after his Super Bowl win may have been the story of the night — but Paul Rudd is still overjoyed about his own on-field hug from Kelce.

Rudd, a longtime Kansas City Chiefs superfan, was on the field with the team following their thrilling 25-22 overtime victory over the San Francisco 49ers on Feb. 11. Speaking about the win to MTV News on Thursday, Rudd, 54, talked about his high anxiety during the game.

“If I helped win at all, it was because I didn’t mess with all the things I set up because I’m superstitious. And I think the collective superstition of all the fans probably contributed to that victory,” he said. “But you know, I’m a big fan of that team and have been all my life.”

And after the Chiefs secured victory with a touchdown, Rudd and fellow superfan son Jack, 17, were overjoyed.

“When they won, it was pure delight. It’s truly the greatest feeling,” he said. “I was there with my child and he feels the same way, and to share that with him…”

To top it off, Rudd then had to hug Kelce on the court.

“Travis Kelce is the best guy, he really is,” he said Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire said the star. “He’s been involved with our charity in Kansas City for years and years … And then he got to hug Travis Kelce right after the Super Bowl win. It just doesn’t make sense. It’s unreal.”

Rudd also confirmed that he is a true fan of Kelce’s girlfriend, Swift, after attending one of her Eras Tour stops near New York with his daughter Darby, 13.

Refuting the idea that he’s just a “proxy” fan for his kids, Rudd agreed that he’s a Swiftie himself.

“No, I think it’s really, really good, I think it’s great,” he said, before naming his favorite song of hers. “I really love ‘Mastermind’, I sing it a lot. ‘Cruel Summer’, of course, like all the others, right? “Sagittarius”, perhaps? ‘August’, maybe? Just going through A, really.”

Still, he went on to admit that aside from Swift, his musical tastes are a bit dated.

“I listen to things from way back, I listen to things my parents listened to,” he said. “I’m not fashionable. I don’t have what’s cool anymore, not by choice, it’s just because I’m old.”
