The actor, 48, who stars alongside Cillian Murphy in the popular BBC drama, appeared at Highbury Magistrates’ Court on January 25.

He admitted possession of a Class A drug, as well as Class B amphetamines and two Class C prescription substances.

The Peaky Blinders legend was found with crack cocaine, amphetamines, diazepam and pregabalin, according to the indictment.

A Met Police spokesman said: “Police were called at around 6.30pm on December 26, 2023, to West End Lane in Camden.

“The police came and arrested the man.

“Paul Anderson, 48, of West Hampstead, was later charged with two counts of possession of a Class A drug and two counts of possession of a Class C drug.

“He appeared at Highbury Corner Magistrates’ Court on Thursday January 25.”

Anderson was allegedly caught after a fellow drunk smelled crack cocaine.

His defense lawyer told the court that he had found himself in an “unfortunate position” and had “tried to fake” his character, MailOnline reports.

Anderson, who also appeared alongside Tom Hardy in the twin biopic Kray Legend, was fined £1,345.

‘Big problems’

It is understood the conviction could now cause “big problems” for the Peaky Blinders sequel, which is currently being written by screenwriter Steven Knight.

A source told MailOnline that this could have a “significant impact” on the feature sequel.

Sources say the conviction will make it difficult to “reprise the role” of Arthur Shelby despite him being a “key character.”

“The third option would be to cancel the whole thing,” they added.

Knight previously told fans that the spin-off film should be “in theaters by spring 2024.”

It’s not entirely clear what the film will be about, but Knight has previously said that the film will include real-life World War II stories related to the titular group.

“I’ve had this in mind for a while, a story with the Peakys during World War II, and I’ve chosen three true stories to integrate into the film,” Knight confirmed.

The Sun Online has contacted a representative for Paul Anderson for comment.
