Pearl Jam's Eddie Vedder and Daughter Harper, 16, Perform Cover of Taylor Swift's 'The Best Day' at 2024 Ohana Fest

Eddie Vedder and his daughter Harper are fans of Taylor Swift.

Pearl Jam headlined the opening and closing nights of Ohana Fest 2024 at Doheny State Beach in Dana Point, California on September 27 and 29 — and the band’s 59-year-old frontman, who is curating the festival, brought out his 16-year-old daughter to perform Swift’s 2008 Fearless track during the second set.

Before the sweet father-daughter moment, Eddie expressed his admiration for the festival lineup as well as special guest Andrew Watt. “But I realized it’s been a while since we’ve had a powerful young woman on stage with us, so my friend Harper is going to help me out,” he told the audience, according to footage shared by fans on social media.

Playing acoustic guitar, Eddie first sang a verse of Pearl Jam’s 1999 song “Last Kiss” before Harper began singing Swift’s “The Best Day,” a particularly sweet song she performed with her father. During the performance, they alternated between two songs, and the audience loved every second.

“I’m five years old, it’s gettin’ cold, I’ve got my big coat on / I hear your laugh and look up smilin’ at you, I run and run,” Harper sang during the first verse of the song about parental relationships .

Devo, Sting, Turnpike Troubadours, Alanis Morissette, Maren Morris, Jenny Lewis, The Breeders, Dogstar and other performers also performed at this year’s Ohana Fest.

Eddie attended Swift’s Eras Tour with wife Jill and daughters Olivia and Harper last summer, and praised the “Blank Space” singer’s skills in an interview on Bill Simmons’ podcast of the same name with Pearl Jam bandmate Jeff Ament in May.

“She’s an artist who respects her audience and I know from my daughter that she’s really amazing at putting up these little… hidden codes that they can pick up on,” Eddie said. “And then all of a sudden, it activates all these people who are listening, and it gets them involved.

“I think it’s done in a very creative way – she changes it up and the talk is about what she played that night,” he added.

Eddie explained that “the other thing she does so well” is the amount of music Swift can play.

“She’s incredibly prolific,” he said. “So he can just keep playing music and playing music.”

Pearl Jam will hold a series of concerts in Oceania during November.
