Encounters of actors that cause the most nostalgia over the years
While Bandidas is the only film project in which Hayek and Cruz have starred together, they have remained close friends over the years – from the moment Cruz first landed in Los Angeles.
At that time, the two had only met on the phone – never in person. But Hayek still made sure to give Cruz the warmest possible welcome.
“I was coming here for two months and I didn’t know anybody,” Cruz said last year The Ellen DeGeneres Show. “AND [Salma] he picked me up and said: »You are not going to the hotel. You come to my house because this is hard at first and you will feel very lonely.’ ”
The Oscar winner admits she was scared when she first arrived in Southern California, and even slept in Hayek’s room at first.
“And in the middle of the night she said I was holding her hand because I was afraid, I was dreaming, I don’t know,” Cruz told DeGeneres (65).

Cruz’s latest film, Ferrari, directed by Michael Mann and follows the story of former Italian race car driver and Ferrari founder Enzo Ferrari (played by Adam Driver). The film takes place in 1957 when Ferrari is “in crisis,” according to the film’s official synopsis.
“Bankruptcy stalks the company he and his wife Laura built from nothing 10 years ago. Their unstable marriage was shattered by the loss of their son Dino a year earlier,” the synopsis continues. “Ferrari struggles to acknowledge his son Piero with Lina Mardi.”
“Meanwhile, his drivers’ passion for victory pushes them to the edge as they embark on a dangerous 1,000-mile race across Italy, the Mille Miglia,” the synopsis added.
Cruz plays Ferrari’s wife Laura in the film. She and Driver (40) were joined in the cast by Patrick Dempsey as Formula 1 driver Piero Taruffi, Shailene Woodley as Ferrari’s lover Lina Lardi, Jack O’Connell as Peter Collins, Sarah Gadon as Linda Christian and Gabriel Leone as Fon De Portago.
Ferrari it’s in theaters this Christmas.
