The reality star admits to PEOPLE that while Season 2 of the Netflix hit featured some good moments — like his relationship with Love is blind alum Jessica Vestal — also featured some of his missteps, and he’s not exactly looking forward to fans seeing them again.

“I think I’m excited for the fans to see them all fall in love and have some of those genuine relationships,” says Harry, 27. “But yeah, I think I’m afraid of them seeing us drunk and maybe saying the wrong thing to the wrong girl, maybe we’re kissing the wrong girl, I don’t know.”

Jess, 29, and Harry tied the knot at the start of Season 2 and remained together until their split in the final episode, but faced a number of challenges along the way.

During the fifth episode, Harry burst into tears and had to be comforted by Jess after he became frustrated with comments from people in the show about his reputation and intentions. Things hit Harry especially hard when his best friend in the show, Dom Gabriel, also accused him of being insincere and not being there for the right reasons.

As a result, Jess became suspicious of Harry and their relationship, telling the cameras, “Everyone was questioning Harry’s intentions, but hearing Harry’s best friend make a comment like that, I mean, no… it needs further discussion.”

At the time, Harry insisted to PEOPLE that there was more to the situation than what fans were seeing, saying, “I think I was constantly fighting as soon as I walked into the house. People might just take me for me instead of the version of me that they saw on Too hot to handle either what they see online or what they saw from what someone else said about me.”

“It was hard because I felt like I was following my heart and trying to be clean and honest and open,” he continued. “And then any time someone could, if they tried to get into Jess’s head or anybody’s head, they would. And I think that’s what the bullshit was.”

“I think it was hard for Jess to hear all these girls trying to break us up,” he added. “But most importantly, Dom, who I’m very close to … for him to say that, it’s a little hard, but I guess that’s just the nature of the game.”

After the two reconciled and Jess apologized for making Harry feel “less than” due to her past “bad choices”, the pair’s relationship seemed to be strong again. But things later changed when Harry admitted to flirting and acting inappropriately with their colleague, Melinda Melrose, on the day of the boys’ mixer.

Fed up with his actions and false words, Jess finally ended their relationship, telling him in the finale, “My intuition tells me that you want to be a certain type of person right now, but now you’re not… I have to stand up for what I believe in and what’s important to me I don’t want to match you tonight.”

It was eventually revealed – and confirmed in the season two finale – that Harry not only carried Melinda into the bathroom and flirted with her, but also secretly kissed her and lied about it to Jess. Although Harry and Jess ended the series, it was confirmed in the finale that they briefly rekindled their romance after filming ended, but then ended things for good.

“I felt like he really wanted to change. I feel like he really, I guess for lack of a better term, learned his lesson and wanted something real,” Jess told PEOPLE. “It didn’t turn out the way we thought it would, there were a lot of promises and commitments that weren’t fulfilled, but I gave him the kind of grace I would want someone to give me.”

Despite everything that’s happened, Harry tells PEOPLE that he’s grown since filming A perfect match season 2

“I think the best thing about the show is that it was so long ago. It was a year ago,” he explains. “And if you think about yourself a year ago, you’ve lived a hundred lives and you’ve done a hundred different things and you’ve learned a hundred lessons.”

“When I went on that show, I was just in therapy, just trying to figure myself out. I was in a very dark place mentally. I just came out sober after 13 months,” he continues. “I was really trying to get back on my feet and then I had to deal with all this pressure and drama around that. And looking back, I’m kind of grateful because now I can see so many lessons, like, ‘Oh, the Harry of today would have done this a little differently or would do this.'”

“But at the end of the day,” he adds, “it’s a TV show and if I was sitting there with a thumb up my butt, I probably wouldn’t have been able to make a great show with these guys.”
