Peter Cook and Alba Jancou said their “I dos” on Friday, in front of one of Italy’s most famous landmarks.
The couple married at the Hotel Luna in Capri, in a magical wedding overlooking the Faraglioni, three towering rock formations jutting out into the Mediterranean that have become a symbol of the island’s charm.
“I mean, who doesn’t want to get married in Capri!?” Jancou, 24, tells PEOPLE. “We both absolutely love Italy; it’s our favorite country. We traveled all over Italy together and the one place that really stood out to us was Capri. We loved everything from the view, the food and the culture. It’s so romantic and visually stunning.”
“We were on vacation there in 2021, and we spent the day of our third anniversary riding a boat where we kissed under the Faraglioni,” recalls Cook, a 64-year-old Hamptons architect who lived in Italy as a child. About a year after our trip, Alba found the perfect terrace overlooking the Faraglioni and we knew we wanted to get married there.

Although the views from the viewing platform where the couple got married were stunning, the focus of the guests was on the happy couple.
For the occasion, Jancou wore a floral appliqué dress by Israeli designer Lee Grebenau adorned with 3D butterflies, sheer cutouts and a beautifully embellished train.
“I was working with Giselle, the owner of the Lee Petra Grebenau Flagship in New York, and as soon as I saw it online, I immediately sent her a picture,” Jancou says of the dress. “It was the first dress I tried on and I knew right away. I barely even looked at the dresses I tried on after that!”
She completed the look with a classic pair of Aquazzura shoes. The glam team at Beauty Livery provided her with soft, elegant hair and makeup to match.

The two exchanged traditional vows that they personalized in front of an arch made of layers of white flowers by floral designers Capri Blossom. The structure framed the bride and groom with Faraglioni in the background. The judge was Fabian Rawnsley, a resident of Capri.
Jancou walked down the aisle carrying a bouquet of white flowers. The violinist played a classic wedding march, with a prelude from Pachelbel’s Canon. After sealing their marriage with a kiss, the couple left their ceremony to John Legend’s “All of Me.”
It was a particularly intimate event, with only six guests. The couple called it an “over-the-top getaway,” a term Jancou coined during the planning process.

“We originally hoped to get married in 2020 in Turks and Caicos just as the pandemic hit, which threw our plans off,” explains Cook. “Despite the attempts to delay, the COVID continued to grow and we were afraid of making extravagant plans that could be derailed again, so we paused all planning. And then it was Alba who came up with the idea of having an ‘over-the-top getaway’ in Capri.”
To help execute their vision, Cook and Jancou enlisted the help of Capri Moments, a custom wedding and event planning company.
They created a sophisticated, customized event, decorating the space with accents of white mixed with the traditional blues and yellows of the Capri region. Abundant flowers from Capri Blossom cascaded from the centerpiece of the table.

After the ceremony, guests enjoyed an aperol spritz-themed cocktail on the Capri Rooftop with classic Italian hors d’oeuvres, while the newlyweds stepped out for the requisite photo shoot (with photographer Gianni Di Natale).
Everyone then sat down to an Italian dinner that included regional favorites such as ravioli capresi “alla nero”, truffle risotto and chicken piccata – all enjoyed sitting on the lower terrace of the hotel, overlooking the wedding venue with Faraglioni in the distance.

The wedding was part of a multi-day celebration for Cook, Jancou and guests. On Thursday, the couple hosted a welcome/rehearsal dinner at Capri’s iconic Da Paolino restaurant, famous for its lemon tree-lined patio.
Guests then joined the couple on Saturday for a boat trip around the island for breakfast, with a swim stop at Capri’s famous blue caves. The group was then dropped off at Capri’s famous La Fontelina beach club for lunch and an afternoon of lounging under blue and white umbrellas and swimming in the crystal clear Mediterranean waters.

“It was an intimate, romantic and lavish celebration of our love on the most beautiful island in the world surrounded by some of my closest and dearest friends,” says Jancou, describing the day.
“Selfishly, we made the day about us and our love, rather than going through the stresses of entertaining a bunch of friends (all of whom we love and look forward to sharing this moment with through photos and stories!!),” adds Cook.

Cook — who shares daughter Sailor, 25, and adopted son Jack, 28, with ex-wife Christie Brinkley — popped the question to Janco in September 2019 while the couple were on vacation in Santorini, Greece. “Alba is a protective and passionate partner, ” Cook tells PEOPLE. “She puts others above herself in all situations. She has lived a lot in her 24 years and has a maturity and worldliness that belies her age. I love to experience the simplest moments with her the most, every day she makes the mundane manageable and tolerable with her presence.”
“Peter is my rock, my world, my everything,” says Jancou. “He has (for over 5 years) and continues to make me feel like the most beautiful and special girl in the world. He’s also been my biggest supporter and made me believe in myself in ways I never imagined. The thing I love most about him is his heart and how good he is. What I admire most about him is his ability to light up any room he walks into. There isn’t a person who spends time with him and doesn’t instantly fall in love. My friends and I all joke that he’s human golden retriever. I love our time together, every day, whether we’re exploring a new country or sitting at home watching a movie. Every day with him is the best ever.”

Asked what the wedding means to each of them, Cook says: “Marriage is my commitment to Alba’s happiness and emotional security. I want Alba to always know that I will always be there to support and encourage her ambitions and dreams and that I will be her partner with with which you move through life and share the world.”
“Marriage is my commitment to love Peter through the good and (very rarely) the bad. It’s a vow to always be his biggest cheerleader,” says Jancou. “For me, it’s really a promise to put Peter first, always and forever.”

The couple says they plan to “explore the world, explore new opportunities for work and life, and decide together where life and time will take us” moving forward. And those researches will begin in Puglia, where they will go on their honeymoon after Capri.
“I’m most excited to take the next step in our relationship and to be able to call Peter my husband!” says Janco. “We have a lot of exciting plans and I’m really looking forward to working together towards our goals.”
“Alba and I have been side by side for the past five years, during which we have proven that we are soul mates,” says Cook. “We operate on the same frequency; we share the same goals and passions for work, travel and each other. I look forward to Alba’s compassionate love for me and her partnership as we maneuver into the future.”
