The Humanely star, 69, who starred with Brody, 44, on OChas exclusively shared his thoughts on the “Adam Brody Renaissance” that has surfaced online since his new Netflix rom-com premiered Nobody wants this.

“I wouldn’t go so far as to be a proud dad, and I haven’t seen the show, but I’m proud of him all the time as his friend and former TV dad,” Gallagher told PEOPLE at the opening night of Across Left on Tenth, in which he stars opposite Julianna Margulies, on Wednesday October 23rd.

“And I’m not surprised at all [of the renaissance]”, he adds. “He’s so talented and I’m glad he’s still doing his job.”

“I just remember hearing Krismuka for the first time and thinking, ‘That’s brilliant. I think it’s going to stay,’ and it has,” Gallagher tells PEOPLE.
