Philadelphia Eagles Superfans Get Married While Tailgating in Stadium Parking Lot Before Game

For Brooke and Rob Rittner, Sunday’s NFC East showdown wasn’t just another typical game day for die-hard football fans. It also happened to be the couple’s wedding day.

The Oaklyn, New Jersey residents – and Philadelphia Eagles super fans – got married at a tailgate in the Lincoln Financial Field parking lot before kickoff when their team played the Dallas Cowboys.

In a video posted on the Eagles’ official Instagram account, Brooke, 45, and Rob, 48, could be seen standing in front of the referee wearing an Eagles jersey. The bride was appropriately dressed for the occasion in an “Eagles green” sequined dress and an Eagles hat trimmed with a green veil. The groom was more casual in a white jersey and green athletic shorts.

After the couple were pronounced husband and wife, they kissed as the crowd cheered them on. Two former Eagles players also made an appearance at the couple’s wedding — former cornerback Lito Sheppard and former wide receiver Fred Barnett.

“Wedding tailgate! It’s a Philly thing. Congrats Brooke & Rob 💍🦅,” the Eagles wrote on Instagram, along with clips and photos from the Rittners’ parking lot wedding.

“It was such an amazing day,” Brooke told CBS News Philadelphia after the game. “It was great.”

Ahead of their special day, the couple sent save-the-date cards to their family and friends that were cleverly designed like football tickets. “Rob and Brooke are getting married,” the cards read. “LFT LOT N 12:00 – 16:00. Tickets not included.”

While the wedding itself was memorable, Rob said they faced one perhaps unsurprising logistical problem. “Parking was a problem,” he said of the stadium. “I was getting phone calls.”

“But there were so many good Samaritans because we’re in Philadelphia,” Brooke added. “Like, my mom said, ‘I have to go to my daughter’s wedding,’ and someone literally parked her car and ran her over here.”

As a wedding present, Brooke and Rob received matching personalized Eagles jerseys from the team signed by center Jason Kelce, who celebrated his 36th birthday on Sunday. Another gift? The Eagles won the game 28-23, earning their eighth win of the season.

“I’m here for Rob and Brooke and I absolutely love them as a couple,” wedding guest Jenny Simpson told CBS News Philadelphia. “They are the most perfect couple in the world.”
