Phillip Schofield’s daughters copy their dad in unfollowing Holly Willoughby

PHILLIP Schofield’s daughters have followed their father’s lead in unfollowing Holly Willoughby on social media.

This week, seemingly cementing the end of their once impenetrable friendship, the social media distancing came ahead of Holly’s first National Television Awards without her former confidant.

And now, just as Phillip stopped following Holly, so did his two daughters, Molly and Ruby Schofield.

The girls have known Holly for years amid her close working relationship and friendship with their TV star dad Phillip.

They even enjoyed a vacation in their neighboring villas in Portugal’s Algarve.

A source told the DailyMail: “Both Molly and Ruby saw their father go through hell, they were there for him when he lost everything.

“Meanwhile, followers of Holly on Instagram see her getting on with her life.

“The whole scandal has taken its toll on them, their support for him has been unwavering and this is the final nail. They are fiercely loyal to their dad, despite everything that has happened.”

Despite the family unfollowing Holly on social media, she still follows her former co-host Phillip on the app.

Holly and Phillip’s working relationship came to a shocking end in May when the latter admitted he had lied to her and revealed to bosses about a six-month affair with a much younger colleague.

It was recently confirmed that Holly had submitted to an independent investigation into the scandal.

Holly’s representative said she is doing everything Jane Mulcahy KC asks of her.

ITV chief executive Kevin Lygo said of the inquiry at the Edinburgh TV Festival: “She [Mulcahy] has spoken to everyone involved, they take your phone and look at every single text you’ve ever sent, email, WhatsApp.

“So everything is available, a lot of interviews, talking to everyone and hopefully as soon as possible, but probably in September, she will make it public.”

In his first interview since the scandal broke, Philip told us exclusively that he has had no contact with Holly since the news broke.

He told us: “I lost my best friend. I let her (Holly) down. I let that whole show down. I let the viewers down.

“Holly didn’t know (about the romance). And that was one of the first messages I sent, to say, ‘I’m so, so sorry for lying to you.’

“She didn’t answer and I understand why she didn’t answer. Well yes. If anyone associates Holly with this in any way; that is absolutely, completely untrue.

“I didn’t have an argument with Holly. She is my TV sister. But quite rightly, when I’m in the middle of an as**t show with bad press for something I’ve done nothing wrong with – in fact, I’ve done everything right – that’s a witch hunt. And that takes that (friendship) off.

“Quite rightly, she’s going to take a step back and think, ‘I’ve got to back out of this,’ and I totally understand that.

“As we see now, this is a vicious game and the last thing you want is for something to stick to you.
