Every time Clare visits Phoenix, she notices that Ghost is not there. So she adopted, she was adopted.

A year after learning about Phoenix’s plight, Clare learns that he and the other horses will not be released back into the wild.

So she immediately applied to adopt Phoenix. “I did it because I wanted to give him back the freedom he so desperately craved on the day he was arrested.” She eventually succeeds, but seeing Phoenix so desperate and sad, Clare vows to befriend his girlfriend.
