Pink Beams While Performing with Daughter Willow, 13, Before Kamala Harris’ DNC Acceptance Speech

Pink surprised the Democratic National Convention on Thursday, August 22, by bringing 13-year-old daughter Willow Sage onstage for a stripped-down performance of her 2017 hit “What About Us.”

On Thursday, August 22, the “Raise Your Glass” singer took the stage at the DNC alongside her daughter, holding a quiet duet before Vice President Kamala Harris delivers her historic speech.

Pink shares Willow with her husband Carey Hart. She previously performed on stage with her mother and joined Pink to record “A Million Dreams (Reprise)” for The Greatest Showman: Reimagined when she was 7 years old. Pink and Hart, 49, are also parents to son Jameson, 7.

Pink — which marked her first appearance at the DNC — followed shortly after The Chicks performed “The Star-Spangled Banner” Thursday night.

Stevie Wonder, John Legend and Sheila E. cover Prince’s ‘Let’s Go Crazy’ at the 2024 Democratic National Convention.

Although this was her first appearance at the convention, Pink (44) has spoken at length about her political views.

In November, the pop star teamed up with nonprofit PEN America to hand out thousands of banned books at her concerts in Florida. The books she chose to give away include topics of racial and sexual identity.

Her decision to donate the books came after the state passed laws in recent years that limit free speech in education, such as the Individual Freedom Act, which passed in July 2022 and restricts how systemic racism and discrimination are taught in schools and in the workplace, according to the ACLU. In 2023, Governor Ron DeSantis also signed the “Don’t Say Gay” bill into law to limit discussion of LGBTQ+ topics in schools.

Then, when Roe v. Wade was overturned by the Supreme Court in 2022, she took to X (formerly Twitter) to express her frustrations and optimism for a better future: “I think all our nerves are collectively fried from so many years of racism, misogyny, homophobia, etc. +pandemics, mass shootings, wars and the total insanity, hypocrisy, ignorance of the GOP – it’s all a little too much.”

She added: “But we will stick together. Good will overcome evil.”

Stevie Wonder, Sheila E., John Legend and Maren Morris performed at the convention on Wednesday night.

Pink will be handing out 2,000 banned books on race and sexuality on an upcoming Florida tour

Legend, Wonder and Sheila performed a high-energy rendition of Prince and the Revolution’s 1984 classic “Let’s Go Crazy” from Purple rainaccording to a recording from KSDK News.

Meanwhile, Morris paid tribute to Harris by performing her 2020 protest song, “Better Than We Found It.”

While the song was originally released after the killing of George Floyd to express her support for the Black Lives Matter movement, Morris seemingly changed it to show the dichotomy between the modern Democratic and Republican platforms.

“When the lines of tomorrow are drawn / Can I live with the side I’ve chosen? / Shall we sit back, do nothing about it? / Or shall we leave this world better than we found it?” she sang. “America, America, divided we fall / America, America, God save us all / From ourselves and the hell we’ve built for our children / America, America, we’re better than this.”
