Kate Hudson’s son is already preparing for his future.
Speaking to PEOPLE for this week’s cover story, the actress and singer, 45, revealed that her son Bingham, 12, has already taken an interest in the financial world. Hudson, who released her debut album, Famouslyon Friday, May 17, she shares a younger son with ex Matt Bellamy, and is also the mother of son Ryder (20) with ex Chris Robinson and daughter Rani (5) with fiancé Danny Fujikawa.
“He really loves the stock market and has for years,” Hudson, who released her debut album, Famously, on Friday, May 17, says Bing. “And so he trades his own stocks. He’s reading since he was 12, he’s reading the news about where things are.”
“He knows the class of every stock and every bond and all these things. It’s crazy. So it’s going to be very interesting to watch him grow up,” she adds.

As for Hudson’s son Ryder, the star says that while the two have a real friendship, she will always be his mom.
“But because I guess I was young when I had him, it’s a different relationship than with my other kids. So he’s seen me through all my good times, my bad times, this boy, not that boy,” shares Hudson.
“He’s seen me through it all. And it’s very different because I’ve never had an adult life without him,” she notes of Ryder, who inspired the song “Live Forever” from Hudson’s new album. “So it’s a little bit, I mean more protective, which means I think he’s very protective of me. And then I think my other kids will be, because we’ve been through so much together.”
“I mean, he was really my partner in crime and I never went anywhere without him,” said the mother of three. “So it’s very, very close. And I think, yeah, he’s being protective.”
Hudson describes her daughter as more of a “firecracker,” noting that she’s already interested in Hudson’s wardrobe.
“She’s the best. She’s so magical,” says the proud mom. “She’s definitely her mother’s daughter. It takes her forever to get out of the house. She’s very particular about her wardrobe, her clothes and her vibe.”
“She’s just a total firecracker, but she’s a lot more emotional than I think I was when I was little. She’s a lot more empathetic like I was, yeah. She’s just very empathetic and emotional,” observes Hudson.
In January, Hudson spoke to PEOPLE about prioritizing time for her three children at the end of a busy day.
“I’m busy, I am.” really busy, but my day is done at 5 p.m. and I’m in that kitchen making them something,” Hudson said.
Although he tries to balance work and quality time with his family, Almost famous star said that her busy lifestyle sometimes makes it difficult to always be around.
“It’s hard to pull it together when you’re a working mother, and it was especially hard when I was a single mother,” she noted. “But at the end of the day, I want people to not put so much pressure on themselves.”
