Tua Tagovailoa warned would-be home burglars Wednesday to “think twice” about attacking him and his family while he and the Miami Dolphins are on the road, explaining that his personal security guards are “armed.” Tagovailoa, 26, issued the warning during his media availability on Wednesday, Dec. 11, after being asked about a recent spate of home burglaries that appeared to target NFL superstars as they play games and leave the house. Investigators believe burglars specifically targeted Kansas City Chiefs stars Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce in early October, breaking into their homes 48 hours apart around the time they played the New Orleans Saints. Last weekend, Cincinnati-area police say a home was broken into. Bengals linebacker Joe Burrow while the NFL star was in Texas playing for the Dallas Cowboys at Monday Night Football.
Last month, the NFL issued a memo to its players warning them about a possible organized crime ring breaking into players’ homes while they’re away at games, PEOPLE reported.

Tagovailoa told reporters this week that he started hiring personal security after his car was broken into, saying it seemed “a little too close for my comfort with my family in the house.”
“We have personal insurance to take care of all that while we’re on the road,” Tagovailoa told reporters Wednesday. “We have someone with my wife, we also have someone in the house, checking the house, just so we know, they are armed, so I hope you think twice if you decide to go to my house.”
ABC News and Fox 4 Kansas City reported last month that investigators believe recent burglaries targeting NFL players may be linked to a South American crime ring.

Burrow, 28, complained Wednesday that the break-in made him feel “like my privacy has been violated in more ways than one, and there’s a lot more out there than I would like and want to share.”
Meanwhile, other athletes outside the NFL said their homes have also been burglarized in recent months. Milwaukee Bucks forward Bobby Portis’ took to Instagram to share the news that his home in River Hills, Wisconsin, was broken into while he was playing a game against the Cleveland Cavaliers on November 2nd.
