Pink Piglet doesn’t see the height but she inspires kids every day

Unfortunately, some breeders don’t take into account the potential health complications that can develop when keeping dogs. The piglet is a cross between a chihuahua and a dachshund, and both his parents are brightly colored.

When two dogs of this color are mated, the puppy has a 25% chance of becoming “dual color”, which is usually related to the puppy being partially or completely blind and deaf. Piglet was unfortunately one of those puppies, he was completely blind and deaf, but that didn’t bother him.

Piggy got his nickname from bright pink when he was a puppy. He is a beautiful and sweet dog, but due to his unique requirements, he needs a family that is willing to give him more attention and care.

The piglet was discovered in a hoarding situation with 37 other puppies in Georgia. He was then sent to Connecticut, where he met veterinarian Melissa Shapiro. Shapirov initially intended to adopt Praščić, but soon fell in love with him. She realized it belonged to her after only two months of nurturing it.

Shapiro already has six dogs, but is excited to welcome another. Piggy was a huge effort for her, but it was well worth it.

At first, looking after Piglet seemed like a full-time job to me. He is very loyal to Shapiro and screams whenever he is nervous, which is most of the time. He is very nervous about separation if Shapiro leaves the house, so she can’t even leave him alone for the first month.

Piglet settled into the routine and felt more comfortable in his new surroundings after a few months in his permanent home. She enjoys playing with her brothers, going for walks and going on business trips with Shapiro. He refuses to let his unusual demands stop him from living the life of a happy dog.

When a third-grade teacher in Plainville, Massachusetts heard about Praščić’s story, she wanted to share it with her students. She tells them about Praščić’s good attitude and how it helped him through the ordeal. He also encourages children to accept and celebrate diversity.

Students use Piglet to help them develop their mindset, so they aim to maintain the “Piggle Mindset” and when faced with a problem, ask themselves: “What would Pigglet do?” Children often send hand-drawn wishes to Piglet, which both Shapiro and Piglet appreciate.

Piggy and his family also raise funds for dogs with special needs. They offer a wide variety of Piglet merchandise, such as t-shirts, stickers, magnets, and bags. They have raised over $30,000 so far!

Piglet’s website also includes a collection of instructional PDFs for classroom use. Piggy is an inspiration to people as well as dogs and works tirelessly to promote adoptions and bring smiles to people around the world.

Shapiro and Piglet will continue to help and inspire people for years to come. Piglet had a difficult childhood, but that’s why for Shapiro, he is now a symbol of friendliness and acceptance. Prašić’s story motivates people to adopt, especially pets with unique needs like him. They may require extra maintenance, but they are definitely worth the effort.
