Piyush Pandey is an Indian advertising professional and writer. He is the global chief creative officer and executive chairman of India at Ogilvy & Mather (agency). In 2016, he was awarded the Padma Shri Award. He is considered the “advertising man of India”.

His father worked in a cooperative bank in Rajasthan, and his mother, Bhagwati Pandey, died in December 2010. He has seven sisters including Rama Pandey, Tripathi Pandey and Ira Arun, and a younger brother named Prashun Pandey, who is a famous director of commercials. His sister Ila Arun (the elder) is a famous Indian singer and actress.

In 1982, he joined Ogilvy, a British advertising and marketing agency, as head of client services in India. His advertising career began with a Sunshine Cleaner print ad as it was the first ad he ever wrote. He composed the patriotic song “Mile Sur Mera Tumhara” for the 1988 national integration movement. In 1989, he joined the creative department and designed many popular advertising campaigns in India including Pulse Polio campaign with Amitabh Bachchan with the tagline “Do Boond Zindagi Ke”, Fevicol campaign, Fevikwik campaign with the tagline For “Todo Nahin, Jodo” Ponds Ad (2010) the slogan was “Googly Woogly Woosh”, for Cadbury Dairy Milk ad campaign the slogan was “Kuch Khaas Hai”, for Vodafone ad campaigns Pug, ZooZoos and Asian Paints, the slogan was It was “Har Ghar” Kuh Keita Hai.
In 1992, he was promoted to creative director and later national creative director. In 1994, he became a member of its board of directors. Under his leadership, Ogilvy India topped the list for 12 consecutive years in Agency Reckoner, an independent marketing and advertising survey conducted by The Economic Times and Brand Equity. In 2004, he was appointed Executive Chairman of Ogilvy India and South Asia. During his 40-year career at Ogilvy, the company became India’s largest advertising agency. In September 2006, Piyush Pandey was nominated to the Ogilvy Global Board of Directors. He also mentors creative executives from around the world at the Berlin Creative Leadership Academy. During the 2014 BJP election campaign, he and his team came up with the popular slogans “Abki Baar Modi Sarkar” and “Achche Din Aane Wale Hain”.
In 2019, he was appointed global chief creative officer of Ogilvy. In September 2023, he was announced to take on a more senior advisory and leadership role at Ogilvy India with effect from January 1, 2024.

Every year from 7 to 9 on December 31st, I will completely close myself in and ask myself what I have done this year. This determines whether I sleep well or not. It was an exercise to figure out if I was just traveling and doing this and that, or some actual work. “
