PM Modi Paid Tribute To The Martyrs Of 2001 Terror Attack

Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar on Wednesday paid tribute to the victims of the 2001 Parliament attack and gave them flowers. A statement from the Prime Minister’s Office said: “Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid tribute to the slain members of the Indian Armed Forces and paid tribute to those who lost their lives in connection with the attack on Parliament on December 13, 2001.” The press release was published by the Prime Minister’s Office. On December 13, 2001, Lashkar-e-Taiba, an offshoot of Jaish-e-Mohammed, launched a terrorist attack on the parliament complex, sparking a firefight with security forces. Security forces, including CRPF and Delhi Police, repelled the attack. The Prime Minister paid tribute to the security personnel who bore the brunt of the attack. He said: “Today we pay tribute to the brave security personnel who gave their lives defending our Parliament on that day in 2001 and their bravery and sacrifice will forever be etched in our national memory.” In his post on X, the foreign minister said: “Their bravery and sacrifice will serve as an inspiration to us all as we continue to fight terrorism in all its forms and dimensions.”

Kamlesh Kumari (a CRPF constable), who first spotted the terrorists and gave a call for help, was killed along with another CRPF constable, Jagdish Yadav, and another constable from the Parliamentary Guards and the department. Other Delhi Police personnel who were injured in the attack were Nanak Chand (Rampal’s father), Om Pratap (Om Prakash’s father), Bijender (Bijender Singh’s brother), Ghanshyam (CPWD gardener) and Subedar (Deshraj) (CPWD employee) .
