Pokémon Squishmallows Coming To Pokémon Centers Soon

The Pokémon Company has announced that the official Pokémon Squishmallows are coming to Pokémon Centers soon. Squishmallows are soft and squishy plushes, made to resemble the kinds of plushes sold in Japan. The Pokémon series is no stranger to plushes, with all of its 925 Pokémon (and their associated forms) being recreated as soft toys at some point in time.

Pokémon Squishmallows were revealed at SDCC 2022, with Pikachu and Gengar plushes being shown in displays at the event. There was no release date given at SDCC 2022, but it seems that fans won’t be waiting much longer to find out more. The official Pokémon Twitter account has announced that the Pikachu and Gengar Squishmallows are coming to Pokémon Centers in the US, UK, and Canada soon, with a video showing lots of them packed together.

Pikachu & Gengar Pokémon Squishmallows Are On The Way

Pikachu’s presence among the Pokémon Squishmallows is a given, considering it’s the mascot of the franchise and is beloved all over the world. The presence of Gengar might be more surprising, even though it’s one of the ever-popular original 151 Pokémon. The most likely reason Gengar is here is that Gengar is the U.S.’ most popular Pokémon, beating out the likes of Pikachu, Charizard, and Lucario. Gengar was also recently on Ash’s championship team in the Pokémon anime, when Ash defeated Leon in an epic battle.

It’s unclear whether there will be more Pokémon Squishmallows, but there were leaks regarding Togepi and Snorlax plushes in the works. There are lots of potential options for future Pokémon Squishmallows, considering that most Pokémon can fit into the average shape of the other Squishmallows that are available. If more are on the way, then they will likely be announced soon, especially if the first run sells out quickly.

The Pokémon Squishmallows will be sold exclusively through the Pokémon Center stores, but at least they will be sold internationally and not kept in Japan, like the infamous Gengar head devouring Pokémon plush toy. The full release date and price of the Pokémon Squishmallows should be revealed soon, especially if they’re being promoted on official Pokémon social media channels, and they could be being prepped for a holiday season 2022 release. The Pokémon fans who need to buy yet another Pikachu plush will soon have their chance to do so in Pokémon Center stores.
