Ponnambalam is a 56-year-old actor who was born on September 14, 1963 in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. He completed his schooling from Avichi High School, Chennai, Tamil Nadu. He was very interested in extra fights and stunts. He started his career as an extra fighter. Later, he received invitations from some film companies to act as a stuntman.

In 1988, he made his acting debut in a Tamil film called Kaliyugam. Early in his acting career, he worked as a warrior or stuntman in films. His film career had a breakthrough when he played a villain named Kabali in the film “Walter Vetrivel”. He received critical acclaim for his role as the villain in the film. Later, he did several films in Tamil, Malayalam, Kannada, Telugu and Hindi. His notable performances were seen in films like “Walter Vetrivel”, “Krodh”, “Nayak”, “Thamizh”, etc.
