He was previously a reporter on Anglia TV – becoming a familiar face on regional news.

His daughter Tamara said: “He was a well-known voice on the station for many years.

“Our dad inspired a generation of young journalists as he guided them through the early years of their careers.

“His commitment to these important charities was a source of great pride for his family and a testament to his character.

“His integrity, wisdom and compassion were an inspiration to his friends, family and colleagues.

“His death left a void in the lives of many people.

“His family misses him so much, but may he be comforted by the many people whose lives he touched.”

Young spent his retirement volunteering for the Samaritans and the Truro Food Bank.

His younger brother Tim died of cystic fibrosis when he was a teenager and Chris supported the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.

Young is survived by his partner Linda and his children Jessamy, Trystan, Tamara and Alex.

A celebration of his life will be held in Truro Cathedral next Monday in December at 2pm.
