Post Malone Reveals That He Felt 'So Welcome' in Nashville and He Found 'Lifelong Friends' There

Post Malone has set his sights on a new city.

The rapper, 29, joined Kelleigh Bannen on Apple Music Today’s Country Radio with Kelleigh Bannen to discuss his upcoming album and first country album, F-1 trillionembrace the Nashville scene. The project drops on Friday, August 16.

During the conversation with Bannen (43), Malone talked about creating in an unknown city and noted that the city of Tennessee is welcoming to him.

“It’s really nice to meet people in Nashville that made me feel so welcome and make new friends and kind of create new things,” he revealed before adding, “and for once I’m not sad anymore. I’m happy, very happy.” He admitted to Bannen that since he made the album, he was able to take things slow and slow down.

The Austin the singer revealed that he “made a lot of friends for life”. He told Bannen he’d like to keep “so many” of those friendships, joking that he’d like to stay friends with “anyone who still has [him].”

He went on to explain, “LA is LA and working here, I’ve always felt distracted and it’s nice to go to Nashville and meet people who are the best at what they do and who are super nice and super talented.”

The musician clarified, telling Bannen that in LA “there’s always something to do, which isn’t bad, [but] it’s just not conducive to a work environment, at least for me.”

Malone explained that when he was younger, he “was a lot of fun” and could “go out and then come back and then work.” But he said that since he’s older and has a kid — he has a two-year-old daughter — he just “wants to go play and just make music, and then without thinking, oh, go out.”

He noted that in LA, “it’s always like someone wants something from you,” adding, “And that’s something I didn’t see very often in Nashville.”

“I mean, I’m sure it’s somewhere; I just think I found a group of really, really good people,” he continued. “It was so fresh to go and see this band and write with new people, and I’m so freaking excited.”

Malone has been preparing to release a country album last year, first joining Morgan Wallen and HARDY for a performance at the CMA Awards in November 2023. In March, he continued his country collaborations and was featured on Beyoncé’s Cowboy Carter album.

Then in May, he released his single, “Pour Me a Drink,” featuring country legend Blake Shelton. And in July, he released a single dedicated to his daughter, “Yours”.
