Prashant began his career in Indian politics in 2011 when he worked on Narendra Modi’s strategy for the 2012 Gujarat Assembly elections, for which Modi was appointed chief minister of the state. He continued to work for Narendra Modi and in 2014 founded a campaign group called Citizens for Accountable Governance (CAG), which also worked for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections . His campaigning for the BJP in the elections included Chai pe Charcha discussion, 3D rally, Run for Unity and Manthan. In 2015, Prashant started working for JD(U)’s Nitish Kumar and won a seat in the 2015 Bihar Legislative Assembly elections. Nitish invited Prashant as an adviser to the party and he joined the Janata Dal United (JD-U) on September 16, 2018 as the party’s vice-president. In 2016, Prashant worked for the Indian National Congress in the 2017 Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly elections, but the Congress failed to win the election. Many politicians have commented on Prashant that he should work for the BJP instead of the Congress because the BJP had won elections in Uttar Pradesh for twenty-seven years. In 2017, he served as political advisor to Yuvajana Sramika Rythu’s Congress Party, which won 151 out of 175 seats in the 2019 Andhra Pradesh Assembly elections. The audio was released by the BJP when Prashant was the political strategist of the Trinamool Congress party for the 2021 assembly elections. Prashant responded to this in an interview and said:
