Prashant began his career in Indian politics in 2011 when he worked on Narendra Modi’s strategy for the 2012 Gujarat Assembly elections, for which Modi was appointed chief minister of the state. He continued to work for Narendra Modi and in 2014 founded a campaign group called Citizens for Accountable Governance (CAG), which also worked for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections . His campaigning for the BJP in the elections included Chai pe Charcha discussion, 3D rally, Run for Unity and Manthan. After working hard for Modi to win two elections, Prashant was invited by Narendra Modi to serve as minister of state in the Prime Minister’s Office, but he refused to accept the offer. He no longer works for the BJP due to some issues with Amit Shah.
In 2015, he changed the name of the organization from Citizens for Accountable Governance (CAG) to the Indian Political Action Committee (I-PAC). In 2015, Prashant started working for JD(U)’s Nitish Kumar and won a seat in the 2015 Bihar Legislative Assembly elections. Nitish invited Prashant as an adviser to the party and he joined the Janata Dal United (JD-U) on September 16, 2018 as the party’s vice-president. In 2016, Prashant served as a political strategist for Amarinder Singh of the Indian National Congress in the 2017 Punjab Assembly elections. According to multiple news media reports, Amarinder Singh won the election on the back of Prashant and his team’s campaign. After winning the election, Amarinder Singh tweeted:

In 2016, Prashant worked for the Indian National Congress in the 2017 Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly elections, but the Congress failed to win the election. Many politicians have commented on Prashant that he should work for the BJP instead of the Congress because the BJP had won elections in Uttar Pradesh for twenty-seven years. In 2017, he served as political advisor to Yuvajana Sramika Rythu’s Congress Party, which won 151 out of 175 seats in the 2019 Andhra Pradesh Assembly elections. In 2020, Prashant became the election strategist of the Aam Aadmi Party for the 2020 Delhi Legislative Assembly elections.
In 2020, he did not campaign for any political party but participated in the Baat Bihar Ki campaign. On February 3, 2020, Prashant served as the political strategist of the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam Party in the 2021 Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly elections. In 2021, he campaigned for the All India Trinamool Congress in the 2021 West Bengal Legislative Assembly elections.
In March 2021, Prashant became the chief adviser to former Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh and resigned on August 5, 2021. He wrote in his resignation letter,
As you are aware, given my decision to temporarily withdraw from an active role in public life, I am unable to take over the duties of your Chief Counselor. As I have not yet decided upon my future course of action, I write to request that you relieve me of this responsibility. “
Prashant resigned as a political strategist in 2021. He talked about this in an interview and said,
I don’t want to continue doing what I’m doing. I’ve done enough. It was time for me to take a break and do some other things in life. I want to exit this space. “

- Prashant’s loyalty raises questions: In 2019, Prashant was a political strategist for the JD(U), but at the same time, he was serving the Trinamool Congress for the 2021 assembly elections. Prashant has been criticized by many politicians for not being loyal to a particular party. Nitish Kumar, chief minister of Bihar state to which the JD(U) belongs, said in an interview,
We have nothing to do with his activities in West Bengal. We don’t even know what type of services his company will provide in neighboring countries. “
- Support for Narendra Modi: In 2021, Prashant praised Narendra Modi in an audio clip shared by BJP IT Cell Chief Amit Malviya , causing controversy. In the audio clip, he said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi and CM Mamata Banerjee are equally popular. The audio was released by the BJP when Prashant was the political strategist of the Trinamool Congress party for the 2021 assembly elections. Prashant responded to this in an interview and said:
I am glad that the BJP took my words more seriously than the words of their own leader! ? They should show courage and share the entire chat rather than getting excited about selectively using parts of it.
