Sidi Urination Case
In 2023, a video went viral on the internet showing Pravesh Shukla allegedly urinating on a tribal laborer in a drunken state. He was seen smoking and urinating on the victim. The incident occurred in June 2023 at the Kubali market in Sidi district. The victim was identified as Dasmat Ravat (36), a resident of Kalundi village. Pravesh Shukla was arrested late at night on July 4, 2023, after an outcry online. The arrest follows chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan’s directive to invoke the National Security Act (NSA), a stringent measure against Shukla. Siddi Superintendent of Police Ravindra Verma confirmed the news of Shukla’s arrest through a media chat, saying:
An FIR has been registered against him (Shukla) under sections 294 (use of obscene language), 504 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of peace) and relevant sections of the Scheduled Castes/Scheduled Tribes Act. “

While BJP leaders distanced themselves from Shukla after the video went viral, the opposition Congress alleged that Shukla was an associate of Kedarnath Shukla. Meanwhile, Pravesh’s Shukla’s father Ramakant Shukla also claimed that Pravesh is a representative of the BJP. He said in an interview,
He is the MLA representative of the BJP, which is why he is being targeted by the opposition. It is hoped that the case will be thoroughly investigated and justice will be served. “
Kedarnath, however, dismissed the allegation. He said,
Pravesh was never my representative. I just know him. “
As the video went viral and the public attention that followed, the victim issued a sworn statement making it clear that there was no conflict between him and Pravesh Shukla. Additionally, the victim expressed his belief that the viral video was actually fake.
