She completed her 11th to 12th class education from Kendriya Vidyalaya Girinagar and graduated in Commerce from St. Teresa College. The popular author has been on Forbes’ list of the 100 most influential celebrities since 2013. She has been passionate about art since she was a child, so she became accustomed to painting. The now best-selling author started the blog “21 Days of Positive” as a way to escape and cope with the loss of his father in 2006. She grieved the loss of her father and talked about coping with the loss, saying in her blog:
I lost him (her dad) back in 2006, but for anyone who is going through grief, I can tell you one thing, the pain never goes away, you just learn to manage it better, you learn to move on Your daily life, but everyone is happy. From now on, the memories will be squeezed by sadness, and this is something you have to accept.
Blogging quickly turned into writing for newspaper columns. She has written stories for the Chicken Soup series. Next came poetry, until her books. The first book she wrote was based on a piece of creative nonfiction from a newspaper column she once wrote. The book was a huge success and was translated into many languages, including Turkish. The author’s career has been a wonderful journey that has led to nothing but success, but Preity says her books had to face rejection before she became the bestseller she is today.
My second book received numerous rejections and then it did really well and was even translated into various Indian languages and Turkish. I am happy that my books have been translated into Marathi, Hindi, Malayalam and Telugu etc. and have been well received across the country. The appreciation I receive from people from all backgrounds is humbling but also overwhelming. The journey so far has been great. I worked hard to get to where I am now.
The authors say that no matter where a person is in their career, rejection can hurt, but having confidence in yourself is crucial. The author’s first book, Bubblegum and Candy, is a humorous and engaging book that contains events inspired by her own life. Published in 2008, she revisited the book in 2018 to create another bestseller, adding perspective to her debut novel, Love Is Stronger. Speaking about her 2015 book Why We Love The Way We Do, she shared her inspiration on the importance of stepping out of your comfort zone and reflected on her understanding of young people.
I’m able to connect well with young people because I know them and understand them,” she said. “I think most people don’t understand them. I was recently reading a book called The Teenage Brain by Dr. Frances Jensen and I could relate to it. Jensen is a neuroscientist who analyzes teenage brains, and I found this book very interesting. Also, my presence on social media was accidental. Before I became a writer, I always had a blog and was constantly on social media.
She has been blogging before she became India’s best-selling female author. She creates the best, most beautiful work, which she attributes to her understanding of her readers. People, she said, would rather read about content that is relevant to them, rather than reading about an exotic location miles away. She also stated that her passion to work as hard as anyone else in the game is unwavering and after writing the book, marketing was just as important according to her. All of her books are excellent. She felt completely inspired by Ruskin Bond’s writing style. While changing her writing style, the author challenged herself with her new book, “The Magical Mindset.” Not only does she feel it is a watershed moment in her career, but it is also the legacy she hopes to leave behind for her two children, who can read the book because she believes it is a practical guide unlike other self-help books. It is not heavy-handed and further explains that this book is not a savior of hope and ignores the realities of life. Rather, it is a self-help book that provides a pragmatic approach to achieving a happier life.

About plagiarism
When her fellow writer Chetan Bhagat was accused of stealing other people’s work, Preeti had a strong opinion on plagiarism. She was seen saying that the easiest thing to do is accuse someone of plagiarism, but coincidences are not uncommon in the world of writers. She backed Bhagat, saying the plot match was not surprising because she herself was writing a book and when she read the synopsis she could tell that she had discovered an Irish writer’s work that was very similar to her own. She had to work hard to piece together a 25,000-word piece. The accusation against Bhagat comes from Anvita Bajpai, who claimed that she gifted her book to him at the 2014 Bangalore Literature Festival. Bhagat’s book is based on one of her short stories. She further supported Chetan Bhagat saying that writers hardly have time to read the work presented to them unless it is a close or dear friend. It seemed really out of character to her, but it was so common, she said, that the plot often matched up. The writers admitted they could not read the books given to her and often left them in their hotel rooms. She concluded by saying that justice should be done and she agreed with her fellow writer Tuhin Sinha who said:
“It would be foolish to ban a book before a verdict is passed.”
