Jessie James Decker gives an inside look at her nursery for baby no. 4.
The pregnant country singer, 35, teamed up with Crate & Kids to design a special nursery for her newest child. Speaking exclusively to PEOPLE about the collaboration, Decker opened up about the cute Colorado references she added to her new baby space and shared some of her nursery must-haves.
“When Crate & Kids approached me about the idea of decorating our new nursery, I was so excited because it had been so long since I had a baby when I mentioned having a fourth child,” she tells PEOPLE. “And so I had a moment like, OK, how do we do this again?”

Pregnant Jessie James Decker celebrates fourth baby on the way with ‘Magically Beautiful’ shower: ‘I’m so grateful’
“When their design team asked me how I felt, I immediately felt that the nature theme of Colorado was just right. All three of my children were born in Colorado, and Colorado is very special to me and Eric,” says Jessie, who is married to a former player. Denver Broncos Eric Decker.
“Our life really started in Colorado and we won’t be able to have this sweet baby in Colorado, but I wanted to bring little Colorado to Tennessee so he wouldn’t feel left out,” she explains. “So I put together some mood boards, and they sent me three different ideas to choose from.”
Noting how easy the process was, Jessie says Crate & Kids managed to match the theme perfectly. And she wasn’t alone on the trip — her husband was involved “quite a bit.”
“That’s kind of how he and I are, we both have our strengths. So he was very helpful in terms of making sure they got the measurements right and the layout of the room right and making sure when people came to paint or do things, he was really hands-on in the technical part of everything, so I was very grateful,” she explains.

When designing the space, there were a few things the mom-to-be knew had to go into the space.
“I think it was the color scheme,” she begins. “They presented the color scheme, but I knew it when I saw the vision. I had to have terra cotta, I had to have olive green. It just felt right and it really just went with the vibe.”
As for the things she didn’t think she would need, the musician relied on her experience with her other three children.
“I think because I’ve done this so many times, I definitely know what’s necessary and what’s not,” she says. “But I think what’s been the biggest surprise is all the new updated items they keep coming out with that didn’t exist when I started having babies 10 years ago.”
“I’m constantly in awe of technology and the things they come up with to make it easier for new moms, and I’m like, ‘Wait a minute, where was this when I started?'”

While her family has been snowed in for the past few days due to a snowstorm in their hometown of Nashville, Jessie used her snow days to add the final personal touches to her nursery.
“We hung a personal picture that I painted. I paint, and I used to paint all the time,” she says. “Even before Eric and I were even married, we lived together in Colorado and I took this beautiful snowy landscape from our backyard. It was just snow and mountains and beautiful trees and the colors couldn’t have matched more perfectly in this baby room.”
“But we hung it yesterday and it was the last little finished piece that he put in his room and it just felt so good and it was just beautiful.”
Along with the picture, the singer added several personalized items she received during the birth of her child, including a “beautiful homemade rosary” from her mom.
Her three other children — sons Forrest, 5, and Eric “Bubby” Jr., 8, and daughter Vivianne Rose, 9 — are also excited to help prepare the nursery.

“They were very helpful,” says Jessie. “What I love about this is that they’re really aware of what’s going on. Before, whenever Forrest was born, they were still babies themselves so they knew what was going on, but not to this level.”
“I mean, Vivi will be 10 when this baby is here and if we all remember she was 10, you know what’s going on. And she’s fully aware and so excited, and everyone’s been helping me in daycare to finish things.”
The proud mum says her younger son Forrest has been writing love letters to the baby as he prepares to step into his new role as a big brother. Meanwhile, her older son Eric became her “protector”.

“He tries to hold my hand as we go up and down the stairs or puts his hand on my back and worries, or won’t let me carry something heavy because he’s just paranoid,” she remembers. “He says, ‘I got it, Mom. I’m going to wear this.'”
As she prepares to welcome her little one, the proud mum says she felt “out of breath”, but the hardest thing for her to deal with was the pain in her hands and arms.
“But other than that, I’m just excited and I’m so ready and I can’t wait to meet this little guy. And I just know that we’re all going to be so obsessed with him.”
