Prince Harry and Meghan Markle Enjoy Texas BBQ Date — and Reveal the Disney Movie on Repeat at Their House (Exclusive)

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle couldn’t go to Austin, Texas without trying some barbecue!

The couple was in town for the SXSW conference, where Meghan was a panelist with Brooke Shields, Katie Couric, author/sociologist Nancy Wang Yuen and moderator Errin Haines.

Prince Harry sat in the crowd as women took part in an International Women’s Day panel titled “Breaking Barriers, Shaping Narratives: How Women Lead On and Off Screen.”

After the event, the couple visited la Barbecue.

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry Dine in Austin at Place Associated with Their First Date (Exclusive)

“Their visit was a planned thing. They let us know she wanted to stop by, but they didn’t know Harry was coming,” director of operations Cory Rivademar tells PEOPLE exclusively. “They went in and toured the pits with Frankie, who’s the pit guy, and talked about how hot it is in the pits, which is funny because this is Texas, and actually, it can be a lot hotter than it is today.”

Rivademar says they ordered brisket and sausages and were “absolutely adorable” as they posed for pictures with staff and other patrons as the restaurant remained open to the public.

Rivademar says that after the couple left, she got a text from Meghan’s representatives saying it was the best barbecue they’d ever had.

“I thought they seemed happy and sweet, he’s very sweet. She talked about their child loving the new Disney movie, Desire. Very honest and very loving. Happy couple. Nice to people who didn’t even know what was going on,” says Rivademar.

On Friday’s panel, Meghan spoke candidly about the support she has received from her “amazing partner”.

“I’m lucky in that, among the privileges I have in life, I have an amazing partner,” Meghan said. “My husband is such a hands-on dad and such a support to me and my family. I don’t take that for granted. It’s a real blessing,” she said, noting that he is “such a support to me and my family.”
