Prince William joins his voice in support of the bereaved.
The Prince of Wales has sent a heartwarming message to those dealing with loss and says sharing experiences can help.
William’s words appear in the foreword of a booklet prepared by the London-based Air Ambulance Charity, which features the stories of 12 families who have lost loved ones.
William, 41, whose mother Princess Diana died in 1997 when he was just 15, writes: “No two experiences of grief are the same. The sudden and often unexpected loss of a loved one can be very difficult to process, even with time.”

“However, some consolation can be found through the sharing of experience. The families who contributed to this booklet shared their most precious memories, thoughts and feelings. I would like to thank them for opening up and letting us in on their very personal journey.”
“I hope that this booklet will give you comfort and support and that you may find it useful. To those reading this who are grieving and whose world is very different now, my thoughts are with you.”

The charity says it hopes the new booklet will be “a guide and comfort to those who may have to deal with the pain of sudden and unexpected loss” and adds that the stories provide “a small glimpse into those who are not bereaved but may be caring or supporting someone who is suddenly and unexpectedly bereaved.”
It will be offered free of charge to anyone who could benefit from it, at a time that is right for them as an individual, family, friend or professional.

“It is a reminder of the fragility of life and the importance of compassionate and empathetic care at the end of life. This booklet allows us to extend the care we offer to these patients beyond the ‘side of the road’ to try to support their families who must overcome the unimaginable pain of losing a loved one suddenly and unexpectedly.”
William has just returned from a successful few days in New York, where he promoted his Earthshot Award and laid out new ideas that can help solve some of the planet’s problems.
