Princess Eugenie Joins Christmas with the Royal Family After Welcoming Second Son

Princess Eugenie celebrates Christmas for the first time as a mother of two children!

King Charles’ niece, 33, joined the royals at Sandringham on Monday for their annual Christmas outing at St Mary Magdalene Church on the Sandringham estate in Norfolk.

Princess Eugenie and her husband, Jack Brooksbank, are regular visitors to the royal holiday gathering. While Eugenie has attended since she was a child, she and Jack had their first pairing at Christmas 2018, just two months after the royal wedding.

This year was extra special for Princess Eugenie as both her parents, Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson, attended the event for the first time since the early 1990s. Prince Andrew continued to join the royal family at family events despite stepping down from his royal role in 2019 and his mother Queen Elizabeth stripping him of his military titles and patronage in 2022 over his links to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.

But Fergie (as the Duchess of York is known) also joined the church trip this year. The couple separated in 1992 and divorced in 1996, so she hasn’t joined the royal family for a Christmas outing in years.

Prince Andrew and Fergie remained very friendly and devoted co-parents to their two daughters, even continuing to live together at the Royal Lodge in Windsor.

2023 was a big year for Eugenie and Jack. At the end of May, the couple welcomed their second child, a boy they named Ernest George Ronnie Brooksbank. With the arrival of their first child, August Philip Hawke, he became a big brother!

Princess Eugenie waited until June 5 to announce the arrival and name of her second son, as well as the first pictures. She wrote on Instagram: “Jack and I wanted to share the news that we welcomed our little boy, Ernest George Ronnie Brooksbank on May 30, 2023 at 8.49am weighing 7.1lbs. He was named after his great-great-grandfather George , his grandfather George and my grandfather Ronald.”

The royal family added: “Augie is already loving being a big brother.”

Ernie, as he is nicknamed, arrived as 13th in the line of succession to the British throne, right after Augustus. Ernest is also the first of Queen Elizabeth’s great-grandchildren to be born after her death in September 2022 and the third grandchild of Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson.

In addition to becoming parents to two children, Princess Eugenie and Jack recently experienced another major life change. It was reported last year that Jack had landed a new job that would see the family split their time between the UK and Portugal, which Princess Eugenie recently said on a podcast was a “dream”.

“I can go to the supermarket in my workout gear with my hair piled up and I don’t care, I don’t care,” she explained on Table manners podcast. “No one cares.”

Princess Eugenie and Jack recently greeted some visitors. Meghan Markle and Prince Harry (Eugene’s first cousin) stopped in Portugal on vacation after attending the Invictus Games in Germany last month before returning home to California. Despite the Duke and Duchess of Sussex moving to the United States in 2020 after announcing their decision to step down as senior working members of the royal family, the Duke of Sussex remains close to cousins Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie.

A family insider told PEOPLE earlier this year, “They’re still best friends and talk all the time.”
