Princess Eugenie Says She Is ‘Proud’ of Her Scoliosis Scar as She Thanks Mom Sarah Ferguson for Support

Princess Eugenie is grateful that her mother, Sarah Ferguson, has always supported her throughout her scoliosis journey.

The granddaughter of Queen Elizabeth (34) shared a memory of herself and the Duchess of York (64) on her official Instagram page on Saturday, June 29. In the caption, she thanked her mom for teaching her a valuable lesson about her recovery.

“My mum caught my scoliosis early and I was lucky enough to get the help I needed at the age of 12,” Princess Eugenie wrote. “I thank her very much for that and I also thank her for trusting me to be proud of my scar.”

She continued: “It took all the stigma of having scoliosis away from me confidently showing people what I’d been through and it took away all the fear and anxiety about being different at such a young age.”

Princess Eugenie ended the post with an encouraging message: “I am forever grateful and want everyone to be proud of their scars.”

Earlier this month, Princess Eugenie marked International Scoliosis Awareness Day by showing off her scar on Instagram. She shared three photos from her royal wedding day in 2018 in her wedding dress, proudly showing off a scar from corrective spinal surgery at the age of 12.

“Today is International Scoliosis Awareness Day. I just wanted to share my scar and encourage anyone who has been through something similar to share theirs with me,” Eugenie captioned the post.
