dispute
Priti Lamba criticizes recruitment of Kenyan athletes.
After winning the Asian Games in 2023, Priti Lamba expressed her concerns about countries recruiting athletes from other countries to participate in the Asian Games in an interview with DD News in 2023. As an example, she mentioned the participation of Kenyan athletes in the Asian Games sponsored by Qatar and Kazakhstan. Parul Chaudhary won the silver medal at the 2023 Asian Games in Hangzhou, China, marking the first time India won two medals in the women’s obstacle course event. Among the contestants Priti mentioned was Daisy Jepkemei, who represents Kazakhstan but is from Kenya. Priti criticized and condemned the country for importing athletes and said,
This practice hurts Asian athletes. Qatar sponsors Kenyan athletes to represent their country, and Kenyan athletes should focus on developing their own athletes rather than increasing their medal tally through acquisitions. They should invest in developing local talent rather than recruiting players from other countries. The athletes representing Kazakhstan are from Kenya. ”
