Profession
In high school, he used to participate in various extracurricular activities. He was interested in music, but due to the pressure of studying, he focused on his studies and continued his studies in the field of health science. He did not give up his love for music, but took it as a hobby. In 2017, he entered a university to continue his studies, but in 2018, he was diagnosed with clinical depression and it took him nearly a year to fully recover. In an interview, he talked about this and said,
It was so bad that I didn’t know if it was day or night outside, what day it was, or sometimes what month it was… Fortunately, I didn’t need to take any antidepressants or other medications.”
While going through this condition, he realized how people coped and how they suffered from the side effects of antidepressants or mood stabilizers. Later, Pulkit along with one of his friend Dhaniket found a potential/add-on antidepressant that can be used to treat cancer which is very affordable and has very minimal to no side effects even if the patient takes it for 7-10 years. In early 2020, he started an organization called “University of Alberta Cancer Society” which is dedicated to spreading cancer awareness. The organization encourages new ideas that may help in curing cancer. In October 2020, Pulkit published a research paper on a potential cancer treatment in which he proposed all the main ingredients required to cure cancer but due to lack of research, he could not confirm his claims. About this, Pulkit said,
We will follow the required procedures and hope to prove to everyone that this works.”
When asked in an interview why he did not do anything about COVID in 2020, he responded,
IIT Delhi had published similar papers before me, so there was no point in plagiarizing them.”
Although he was unable to do much to combat the coronavirus pandemic, his organization raised a massive $50,000 and donated it to cancer research and frontline workers in 2020.
