Parthiban played a supporting role in the 2010 film Aayirathil Oruvan. In 2015, he starred in the comedy film “Naanum Rowdy Dhaan”, playing the role of a comic villain. He also played supporting roles in films like “Maaveeran Kittu” (2016) and “Koditta Idangalai Nirappuga” (2017). In 2019, he starred in the film “Oththa Seruppu Size 7” directed and produced by him, which won the Special Jury Award at the 67th National Film Awards. In 1982, R. Parthiban served as the assistant director of the film “Vedikkai Manidhargal”. He also served as a voice artist for the character R. Moorthy in the film. In 1984, R. Parthiban began assisting K. Bhagyaraj in directing Tamil films. From 1984 to 1991, R. Parthiban and K. Bhagyaraj collaborated in more than twenty films. In 1989, he directed the film Pudhiya Paadhai, which was well received by critics. While interacting with AR Rahman on stage, R Parthiban threw the microphone towards the audience and Robo Shankar stating that the microphone was not working. He later apologized for his behavior and explained that he had lost his temper under pressure. The incident shocked the audience and AR Rahman.
