Her decision comes after she posted tweets criticizing Southern Charm actor Austen Kroll, exposing a rift between the two. On Tuesday, July 26, the 39-year-old chef took to social media to tell the story of Austen’s Trop Hop beer company and how he was nasty to her at a gathering. She even mocked Austen Kroll on Twitter, calling him a “tw*t.”
She then posted a series of deleted emails between herself and someone from Bravo’s PR staff demanding the tweet be removed, to which the former responded:
“I don’t sit; instead, I stand… I’m sick of this nonsense… I refuse to attend @BravoCon2022.”
Post titles as follows:
“I’m done with Bravo and Belowdeck!”
Below Deck’s Rachel Hargrove and Southern Charm’s Austen Kroll first met during the NBC Upfronts.
When asked about the basis of the feud, chef Rachel, who participated in seasons 8 and 9 of Below Deck, described an “unfortunate incident,” saying she met businessman Austen during the NBC Upfronts in May, who allegedly searched her trunk with co-stars Shep Rose. She also claimed to have met Austen earlier in Florida, when she had a terrible encounter at a party. She reportedly wrote to a public relations representative in a post that has since been deleted, in which she said:
“He’s been to Tampa and Fort Lauderdale, where I live … we got to know each other … but the best part was seeing his brewing staff.” We were all catching up [hanging] out together. He didn’t like the fact that I wasn’t partying and doing everything he wanted… that I was an idiot.”
She further said that Austen was cruel to her on numerous occasions.
“The guy’s an idiot… even when he’s an idiot [“Southern Charm” actor Shep Rose] rummaged through [sic] my trunk on the floor out front while we waited for the dress rehearsal.”
On July 27, the Florida native tweeted, “Fk Below Deck,” fueling suspicions that she doesn’t want to return to the brand. She continued by tweeting:
“I will no longer be connected [sic] with groups I don’t trust.” #ANTM #belowdeck #bravoco #wwhl”
This is not the chef’s first misunderstanding with someone. She had previously clashed with her colleague and First Officer Below Deck, Eddie Lucas, who was concerned about her frequent drinking and determination to quit shortly before the charter. The cook, on the other hand, had to return to the yacht the next day for work.
Last year, she told Us Weekly about the first episode:
“For me, anger implies that I should care and value that subject or that person.” Not me. Also, if you work in restaurants or kitchens, you will see that my behavior is no different from everyone else’s. It’s just a little more pronounced.”
She even mocked America’s Next Top Model head judge Tyra Banks for calling the chef a “plus size model” during her time on the show.
Rachel Hargrove is the chef.
Rachel Hargrove is a cosmopolitan yacht chef born in Tampa, Florida. According to her official Bravi profile,
