After completing his studies in 1965, Rahul Bajaj joined the Bajaj Group, a diversified business group founded by his grandfather Jamnalal Bajaj. In 1968, he succeeded his father as Chairman and Managing Director of the Bajaj Group. Under his leadership, the group’s flagship Bajaj Auto’s revenue grew from Rs 75 crore to Rs 12,000 crore, with the company’s scooter Bajaj Chetak being the main growth driver.

His other investments include a 2 per cent stake in Bajaj Finance, a 14 per cent stake in home appliances company Bajaj Electrical and a 19 per cent stake in Mukand, a maker of wire rods, alloy castings and steel bars.
