Rajesh Puri is an Indian actor and director. He rose to fame playing the role of “Lalit Prasad (Lalloo)” in the television series Hum Log (1984). Hum Log was the first television series in India.

Rajesh Puri was born in New Delhi. He attended Harcourt Butler Higher Secondary School in New Delhi and later went on to study at Delhi University.
After graduation, Rajesh entered the National School of Drama to study acting. While studying at the National School of Drama, Puri acted in many plays.

Rajesh Puri began his acting career with the role of ‘Kamdar’ in the Indian comedy film ‘Jaane Bhi Do Yaaro’ in 1983. He made his television debut in 1984, playing the role of ‘Lalit Prasad (Lalloo)’ in the television serial ‘Hum Log’.
He next starred in the television series Buniyaad (1986).
He then starred in films such as Diljalaa (1987), Dil (1990), Deedar (1992), Phool Aur Angaar (1993) and Dilwale (1994).
Some of his popular television serials include “Yeh Duniya Ghazab Ki” (1990s), “Ek Se Badh Kar Ek” (1995), “Shakti – Astitva Ke Ehsaas Ki” (2019) and “Kasam Tere Pyaar Ki” (2018).
Apart from films and TV serials, Rajesh has also acted in stage shows like Golmaal- The Play and Wrong Number.
In 2019, he played the role of ‘Narad’ in India’s biggest opera ‘Ramayana’ at the Red Fort.

I think it’s a bad situation for an artist if his talent is not used to the fullest. I have done more than 130 films and still haven’t found the right role for me.”
He further added,
While I don’t endorse any of my work on the big screen, I do feel like I can play more complex and diverse roles, as evidenced by my work in the theatre. Even if my part is only 15 minutes, my character should be able to move the audience in a way that’s hard to explain.”
