Ralph Blunsom dead: ITV star and legendary broadcaster dies aged 66 as colleagues share emotional tributes

ITV NEWS presenter Ralph Blunsom has died at the age of 66.

The death of the television program legend was reported last night by Granada Reports, the channel’s northern division.

Ralph Blunsom has worked for both ITV and the BBC during his career

His death was confirmed on air by colleague Rob Smith.

In Blunsom’s career he also worked for BBC North West.

Co-star Victoria Grimes was among those who posted a heartfelt message on X.

She shared a photo taken in Granada’s newsroom in MediaCity UK and a picture of Blunsom over which she writes 1958-2024.

She wrote: “A candle burning tonight in the @GranadaReports newsroom for our Ralphy.

“A first-rate journalist, hilariously good company and a loyal friend. We’ll miss you more than you can imagine.”

BBC Breakfast editor Richard Frediani said: “My thoughts are with the family and friends of Ralph Blunsom, former BBC North West Tonight and Granada Reports journalist who has passed away.

“He was always a sweet, friendly, funny colleague and will be missed by many.”

ITV journalist Jam Williams-Thomas shared several photos and wrote: “Ralph. It was an absolute privilege to be your colleague but more importantly your friend.

“We shared so many funny times and I can still hear your laugh.

“You have always been a champion for me and others coming up in the industry. I love you so much my friend and I will miss you dearly.”
