Raman Singh is an Indian politician and a prominent leader of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). He served as the Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh on several occasions. Apart from being a politician, he is also an Ayurvedic doctor. Singh began his journey by joining the Bharatiya Jana Sangh in the 1970s, becoming an influential leader of the party overnight. Due to his stature in state politics and social welfare work, he was like a one-man army in the state assembly elections.

Raman Singh was born on October 15, 1952, in a Thakur family in Kavarda, Madhya Pradesh (now Chhattisgarh), India (age 2018: 66 years). His father, late Vighnaharan Singh Thakur, was a well-known advocate, farmer and social worker in Kawardha. After completing his education from Chhuyikhadan, Kawardha and Rajnandgaon, he attended Government Science College, Bemetala for higher education. He received his degree in Ayurvedic Medicine (BAMS) from Government College of Ayurveda, Raipur, Chhattisgarh. After completing his course, he practiced medicine in Kawada for some time. Raman Singh had been inspired by the ideas of Jana Sangh since his student days, so during the National Emergency in 1976 and 1977, he visited his hometown Kawardha Became the president of the Bharatiya Jan Sangh Yuva Morcha.

Profession
His political career began in 1976 when he joined the Jana Sangh. In 1983, he became the municipal councilor of Sheetla district of Kawadha. In 1990, he ran for the first time in parliamentary elections and won. He was re-elected in the 1993 state assembly election. After serving in the state assembly, he was elected to the 13th Lok Sabha in 1999. From October 1999 to January 2003, he served as the Union Minister of State for Commerce and Industry in the government of Atal Bihari Vajpayee.
On December 7, 2003, he was appointed as the second chief minister of Chhattisgarh. On December 12, 2008, he again served as Chief Minister of State. In 2013, he defeated Ajit Singh Jogi of the Indian National Congress and was sworn in as the Chief Minister of State for the third consecutive term.
He contested the 2023 Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly elections from Rajnandgaon constituency and won. He won by 45,084 votes.

- In 2004-05, he was awarded the Outstanding Person Award by the Chhattisgarh NRI Association and the North American Indian American Community.
- On February 3, 2008, former Chief Justice of India KG Balakrishnan awarded him the Bharat Asmita Shreshtha Jan Pratinidhi Award.
- In 2016, Raman Singh was awarded the Rashtriya Krushi Karman Puraskar by the national government for his record pulse production.
