In 2011, some activists of the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) in Pune blackened the faces of Raghu Ram, Rajiv Laxman and Rannvijay Singh for using abusive language in the TV show “MTV Roadies”. During the protests, when ABVP spokesperson Shailendra Dalvi was asked about the protests, he said:
We strongly protest against the vulgar language used by Raghu in his MTV Roadies show. He is a bad influence on teenagers. He is trying to appeal to young people, but young people in this country will only face degradation if they follow people like him. Little children cannot be prevented from watching offensive programs. Every word he said was laced with expletives. He had young people perform pointless stunts like kissing strangers. If this continues, what will happen to Indian culture? “

- He has been fond of sports since he was a child. He has played basketball at the state and national levels. He was admitted to Hansraj College in Delhi under the sports quota. In an interview, he said about this incident,
I never got 94 or 95% in school, so it was a little difficult for me. I used to play basketball and as a basketball player if you did well in school you would play for the national team and your ultimate goal was to get into a good college. During the admission season, my father read in a leading magazine that Hansraj College was ranked first in commerce and second in science. My father, who lives in Moho, Indore, told me that he would be very proud if I got admitted to Hansraj College. Although he was not a part of DU, he knew Hansraj. Little did he know that this college would actually change my life. When I came here for sports trials, Mr. MP Sharma chose me. Then he asked me, “Kaun sa course karna hai?” I said, “Sabse zyada cut off kiski hai?” I did this course with BCom (Hons) ki thi. “
