The attorney representing Kansas City Chiefs player Rashee Rice confirmed to PEOPLE on Monday that the NFL star is now “cooperating” with police following a six-vehicle crash in Dallas, Texas on Saturday that left several injured.
The Dallas Police Department had been looking for Rice, 23, since Saturday because the Chevrolet Corvette involved in the high-speed crash was believed to be registered in Rice’s name.
“Rashee is cooperating with local authorities and will take all necessary steps to responsibly address this situation,” attorney Royce West said in a statement to PEOPLE.
While police have yet to confirm the identity of anyone involved in the crash, a lawyer said Rice’s “thoughts are with everyone affected by Saturday’s car accident.”
Authorities previously told PEOPLE that after the crash, “the occupants of the Lamborghini and Corvette all fled the scene without stopping to see if anyone needed medical attention or to provide their information.”

The Corvette and Lamborghini sped in the far left lane of the 6600 block of North Central Highway shortly before 6:25 p.m., authorities said in a statement about their preliminary investigation.
“The drivers lost control and the Lamborghini went over the embankment and hit the median center wall, causing a chain reaction involving four other vehicles,” they said.

Two people in other vehicles were transported to a local hospital with minor injuries, while the two drivers who did not leave the scene were treated by Dallas Fire Rescue for minor injuries.
Rice is well connected to the Dallas area, having played high school football 30 miles northwest of Dallas in North Richland Hills before attending Southern Methodist University in Dallas during college. Rice’s attorney, West, 71, is currently a Texas state senator representing the Dallas area.
The Chiefs drafted the wide receiver during the 2023 NFL Draft. As a rookie, Rice helped the Chiefs win the 2024 Super Bowl in February.
