Rashmi Tyagi is an Indian professor and the wife of Tirath Singh Rawat, the ninth Chief Minister of Uttarakhand.

Rashmi Tyagi was born in Kharkhoda, Meerut, Uttar Pradesh. She graduated from Raghunath Postgraduate College for Women, Meerut, Uttar Pradesh. Her full name is Rashmi Tyagi Rawat. After that, she obtained her Masters and PhD in Psychology from Chaudhary Charan Singh University, Meerut.

After completing her formal education, Rashmi decided to pursue a career as a teacher. Currently, she is an Assistant Professor of Psychology at DAV Postgraduate College, Dehradun.

- Like her husband Tirath Singh Rawat, Rashmi Tyagi was active in student politics during her college years and was a leader of the All India Students’ Union, a student wing of the Hindu nationalist organization Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS). In 1994, she contested the election for the chancellorship of the Chaudhry Charan Singh University Student Union in Meerut. Even today, she can be seen campaigning for her husband before political elections.
- Rashmi was also keen on beauty pageants in her youth. She was awarded the titles of “Miss RG” and “Miss Meerut”.
- Rashmi was born and brought up in Meerut, Uttar Pradesh, and moved to Pauri Garhwal district in Uttarakhand after her marriage to Tirath Singh Rawat.
- Rashmi is also a social worker and worked for Surbhi Pariwar, a social organisation based in Meerut.
- Rashmi’s grandfather, Ved Prakash Tej, participated in India’s freedom struggle and was jailed more than 50 times for his freedom struggle during the British rule of India. He was an influential figure and was called “Little Gandhi” by the local people. He died in a car accident in the late 1980s.
