Ratul Puri is a former Young Global Leader and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Hindustan Powerprojects (HPPPL). The company is currently developing power assets such as coal, thermal power, solar power and hydropower, with a total investment of US$5.6 billion, including US$3.1 billion invested in the past four years. Under his leadership, the clean energy unit has become India’s largest solar developer. In 2002, Puri was awarded the “Entrepreneur of the Year” award for his contribution to India’s manufacturing industry and pioneered the commissioning of large-scale solar power plants in India.
